Cross Connection Control Water Use Surveys

Workshop Description

Water use surveys are the key to protecting water systems from contamination by cross connections.

Participants will learn to:

  • Assess potential risks and degrees of hazard from different contaminants.

  • Apply regulations and policies to water use surveys.

  • Apply premises isolation and in-premises protection practices.

  • Identify and recommend locations for installing approved backflow prevention assemblies.

  • Plan and prioritize residential, commercial and industrial water use surveys.

  • Develop and apply water use survey questionnaires for different types of facilities.

First day

  • Regulations review
  • Authority and policies to conduct survey
  • Uniform plumbing code and in-premise protection
  • Determining the degree of hazard
  • Onsite surveys
  • Plan checks
  • Selecting appropriate backflow preventers
  • Premises isolation requirements
  • Backflow preventer locations
  • Preparing to perform a water use survey
  • Records to document water use surveys
  • Flow charts and water use survey questionnaires

Second day

  • Plan review of apartment complex exercises
  • Classroom water use survey exercises

Third day

  • Plan reviews of industrial site exercise
  • On-site water use survey field exercise

The last 4 digits of the participant's Social Security Number and full birth date is required.  This information is used to create a unique key for each student.  Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Payment or purchase order must be received at the time of registration.  A full refund will be made for cancellations received 10 days before the workshop.  No refund will be made for cancellations received less than 10 days before the workshops.  Substitutions made less than ten (10) days prior to the workshop incur a $35 processing fee.

CEU Policy:

CEU are awarded for successful completion.  Instances of partial attendance, tardiness or leaving early will result in NO CEU being awarded.
