Helpful Information about WETRC's BAT Program

Washington Environmental Training Center (WETRC) is an organization dedicated to providing classes for the wastewater and water industry. This includes our popular and respected Backflow Assembly Tester Exam Prep classes.

People are sometimes unclear about the difference between WETRC and Washington Certification Services (WCS). This page explains the basic differences and outlines important “need to know” info.
However, this is only a general overview. It is each operator’s responsibility to understand their certification requirements. Information can be found at WCS’s website.

WETRC or WCS?

WETRC is a training organization that offers backflow exam prep classes.

WCS administers exams and issues/maintains BAT Certifications.

WETRC and WCS are separate organizations and require different registrations.

CEU & Attendance Policies

The BAT Courses taught by WETRC are exam prep classes.

You will earn CEU for taking all days of the class.

CEU is not award to students who miss more than three hours of class.

Partial CEUs cannot be awarded.
Backflow “Certification" Clarified

You will earn a Certificate of Completion if you take the class and meet the attendance requirements.

However, you will not be a certified BAT until you take & pass the exam thru Washington Certification Services (WCS).
